SMT Feeder Maintenance and Calibration Best Practices

By Jason Wu, Founder of Southern Machinery · Updated

Regular feeder maintenance and calibration are critical for maintaining placement accuracy and extending feeder service life. Follow these best practices.

Daily Maintenance

  • Clean fiber-optic sensors and positioning guides
  • Check air pressure (0.4-0.6 MPa)
  • Inspect tape/tube feed paths for debris
  • Verify cutter sharpness (replace after rated cycles)

Periodic Calibration

Use the SMT Feeder Calibration Jig to verify feeder alignment accuracy (±0.1mm). Calibrate after feeder disassembly, changeover, or when placement defects increase. Regular calibration extends feeder service life and maintains production quality.
